That beautiful heavenly song praise to God is what not just our bodies but souls express to our God!
Throughout the Old Testament, we see God the Father in action till Jesus' birth, both God the Father and Son continued in the Salvific mission of restoring man to God. At Jesus' Baptism, we see the Spirit in the form of Dove coming down from Heaven and God the Father further conforming Jesus as His true son.
Today we Celebrate the manifestation of Jesus' promise ten days ago at Ascension. The Gift of the Holy Spirit which gives back to the Church of God here on earth. The Holy Spirit comes today with the gifts of Wisdom, Counsel, Understanding, Fortitude, Piety, knowledge and the fear of God, one for each day of the week. From these gifts we are expected to exude His fruits - peace, joy, charity, mildness, benignity, temperance, goodness, faith patience.
He comes ready to warm chilly hearts, melt the frozen, bend the stubborn and guide the strayed. He is our Counselor, Advocate, Paraclete, Inspiration. Stand ready to receive him today for he comes as the Light to reveal, the Seal to mark us for Heaven, the Fire to burn away Evil, Water to wash away sins, and as the Dove to bring peace to our troubled world.
Today also is the International Day of Families. In our contemporary world, we find social vices currently eroding family values. It's time for families to return to the promotion of family values. We can only do this by Inviting the Holy Spirit to come into our families.
May God's Holy Spirit fall afresh on us again!
Morning Prayer
Lord, I open my heart to you in worship. Open my heart to receive the Spirit's flame. Breathe on me, and make me more alive. Enlighten my soul and dispel darkness from my heart. Purify me, destroy what is evil in me. Give me light and warmth and enable me to do your will. Help me to praise your name in joy and thanksgiving. Amen.
